Through a series of post-Annual Meeting webinars, podcasts, and a print publication, we will delve into the lessons and learnings presented in the DEI abstracts sessions presented at AUA2024. In collaboration with our industry partners, who are committed to DEI, we will bring these important discussions to the forefront for all of our members.
The AUA will hold two webinars in June 2024 further exploring the AUA2024 DEI abstract presentations. For each webinar, a panel of abstract authors, leading Chief Diversity Officers, and thought leaders in the DEI space will discuss the abstracts and their implications and applicability to urology today. The themes of the webinars will mirror the abstract topics: Promoting Health Equity and Eliminating Disparities and Increasing Diversity and Representation in the Field of Urology.
To extend the reach of the webinars, the AUA will record the events, and the video will be posted on AUA’s
YouTube channel to reach an expanded audience. These on-demand videos will allow the entire urological community to access this content and expand their knowledge on the importance of DEI in advancing the field of urology. The online format will include the video capture of the live event, the DEI abstracts that are the basis for the roundtable, and any additional resource materials that are discussed during the webinars. This will be evergreen content that will live on the
AUANews platform and the AUAnet.org
diversity page.
The audio will be released as an episode on AUA’s very popular AUANews Inside Tract podcast. The AUANews Inside Tract podcast is a very successful program that leverages the popularity of this style of receiving information. A podcast is an episodic series of digital audio files that a user can download and listen to. Podcasts are often available for subscription, so that new episodes are automatically downloaded via web syndication to the user’s own local computer, mobile application, or portable media player.
Additionally, the DEI abstracts presented at the Annual Meeting will be bundled into an
AUANews Highlights supplemental print publication. This supplement will be poly bagged with
AUANews and mailed to all domestic members with the July issue of
AUANews. Additional copies of the supplement will be used to further enhance awareness of this program through availability at Section meetings and other key events throughout the year. Furthermore, this special DEI supplement will be highlighted on the
AUANews website as well as on AUAnet.org’s
DEI page and pushed out digitally to all AUA members.
